That instead of openly disagreeing with or casting scorn on Kyoto and climate change in general. They should just do what the Liberals do,and be done with it.
That is…
Just sign and nod their heads in agreement. This does not mean they have to put their money where their mouths are .
After all were talking politics here, where the only issue is one’s electability.
Further more, the Liberals could not then point accusing fingers. This one simple move, would remove one more tool from the Liberal PR-toolbox,with which,to browbeat the Conservatives.
Sure the former Liberal government under Chretien might have signed the Kyoto agreement. But any examination of what came after wards, will quickly show that nothing changed nor were policies advanced that would have actually made a difference.
All they have to do is,point that out and “promise” to do better.
It’s all just PR…
To cast scorn on climate change in this day and age is just dumb. Most Canadians understand all to well climate change is real and we must alter our environmentally destructive ways.
But don’t let facts get in your way,PR Mr Harper,PR .
Instead…
Try taking a page from the Liberal book of ,”How to say something without really meaning anything; And still get Elected“
After two week of talks…
Participants at the UN climate conference have agreed to talk some more.
Specific goals were just to much to ask.But then why spoil a good time with divisive &”trivial” details.
And there you have it.
Much as anticipated the Bali talks were just a big waste of carbon emissions.
Indeed the talks put more carbon into the atmosphere,e.g…all the air travel ,air conditioning, burning the midnight oil, etc, etc.
More about word games and the “strategic” use of language than anything else.
Now call me a skeptic but for some”strange” reason…
…I just cannot envision the day, when a gathering of elite nations would impose upon themselves, never mind legislate. The drastic social and economic changes needed if ever we are to halt atmospheric emissions.
We all “know” that change has and always will come from the bottom.
And in all likelihood, things will have to get much worse for the “developed” world, before any real change will be possible.Until that time the “developed” world will use its wealth to ensure[pretty much as it has been doing to date] that it remains divorced from reality.
A very real reality that affects many peoples, usually the poorest & weakest .
Lets face it if the “developed” world were serious, would they be ignoring those most affected?
It’s the fat rich guy through the eye of the needle story all over again.

Different century,same old shit.
…..despite the fact that indigenous peoples are suffering the most from climate change and climate change mitigation projects that directly impact their lands.
…..Indigenous peoples are here in Bali to denounce the false solutions to climate change proposed by the United Nations such as carbon trading, agrofuels and so-called “avoided deforestation” that devastate their lands and cause human rights violations.
…..Marcial Arias of the Kuna People of Panama reminded the international community that indigenous peoples’ right to participate was recognized in the Earth Summit in 1992 and reaffirmed this year. “On September 13th of this year, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples which enshrines the fundamental human rights of indigenous peoples to their lands, territories and environment. It is precisely these rights recognized by the UN itself that the UNFCCC is violating,” he explained.
